My interest in Cardiology and Cardiovascular Sciences stems from the shift of a pre-clinical perspective to a clinical environment. Having begun my third year of medical school, I have started to understand how multi-faceted the subject is, bringing together practical skills, academic knowledge, and how every condition has such an interesting constellation of symptoms and potential investigations.
There is practically no family that is not somewhat affected by cardiovascular disease, and the relevance and rapid advancement of treatment options is what draws me to join Cardiovascular society. I would love to support getting more students interested in Cardiovascular medicine and seeing what opportunities they can pursue within the discipline, building up a tighter-knit student community.
I recently raised £1,500 for Refugee Action and the Ajyal Foundation in a sponsored 2 mile open water swim in Serpentine Lake, helping me to develop my online promotional skills. I also worked with the company Prodigy on social media presence through idea and content generation. This experience honed my understanding of social media promotion and engagement and I would carry these skills forward as Head of Promotions.
Additionally, I was awarded the Imperial Blythe Art Award last year. This year, I wrote and designed images for the Medicine in a Day textbook (yet to be published). These experiences have allowed me to develop my creative and communication skills, particularly in creating visual media for a target audience, and this is where I would focus my efforts if selected for Head of Promotions.
