Nilani Nithiyananthan
Hi! My name is Nilani, and I would love to be your liaison officer at the PHEM Society!
I recently developed an interest in emergency medicine during my placement. I am passionate about this thrilling field, and I believe I can strengthen the connections between students, professionals and external organisations to enhance learning opportunities. Having volunteered in numerous healthcare services, I have gained valuable insight into the collaborative nature of emergency care and inspired my interest in building networks between students and medical professionals in this field.
A combination of my previous experiences has equipped me with the vital skills necessary for this role. Working as a private tutor for over 5 years has taught me strong interpersonal skills, learning how to engage with people from different backgrounds and tailoring my teaching to their needs. This is essential when collaborating with external organisations and communicating within the society. Furthermore, as a former secretary, I learnt how to liaise with others, manage schedules and understand the logistics of the role. Additionally, I have become accustomed to building rapport and facilitating teamwork, which is ideal when working closely with others to build a successful network.
As liaison officer, I will work to build connections between students and emergency medicine professionals to offer valuable insights into emergency medicine. I aim to allow students to engage with experts and gain real exposure to pre-hospital emergency medicine.
Thank you for reading this! I hope you will consider me as your future liaison officer!
