Janice Chan
Hi I am Janice, studying Year 2 Mechanical Engineering. I am particularly passionate about nuclear energy’s potential to provide a sustainable and reliable energy source, and I believe my experience in engineering design and sustainability can help drive forward our nuclear projects in collaboration with Rolls-Royce.
Through my work at ARUP, where I helped design carbon-reducing modular systems, I’ve developed the skills needed to manage complex engineering projects that balance innovation with real-world challenges. In addition, my project manager role in developing Santander’s Net-Zero Transition Strategies has honed my ability to integrate sustainability into technical work, a mindset that is crucial when working on nuclear energy solutions.
As Design Project Manager, I will ensure that the teams are well-coordinated, deadlines are met, and we produce high-quality work, whether it’s through exploring Thermal Hydraulics for improving heat transfer and fluid mechanics within reactors, delving into Neutronics to model reactor physics, or focusing on the Structural Integrity research to enhance material selection and design resilience.
By fostering collaboration between members with diverse expertise in mechanical engineering, physics, and computing, I will ensure that each project is executed with technical precision and a clear focus on sustainability. I will also maintain close communication with the Rolls-Royce teams to align our objectives and deliver impactful research.
I am excited about the chance to lead these initiatives and contribute to advancing nuclear energy at Imperial. Thank you for considering my candidacy for this role.
