Hanqing ZHANG
As a PhD student in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, I am running for Mental Health: Community Engagement Officer to foster a supportive and proactive mental health community for all potential students at Imperial. I believe in the value of professional stress-relief methods, mental health awareness, and an interactive & connected community.
My Goals:
1. Building a Supportive Community: I plan to organize fortnightly workshops and social events—such as badminton, yoga, and running in Hyde Park—for students who pursue long-term mental well-being. Engaging in sports and nature is a powerful way to relieve stress and a good choice to connect with others. I hope these activities will bring a sense of belonging and mutual support, building an active mental health network across departments.
2. 1-to-1 Support: I will work with the college mental health services to provide 1-to-1 support for students who may feel shy to go for help. Additionally, I will advocate for reduced waiting times for counseling appointments, ensuring timely access to mental health resources. These services will be clearly and properly circulated around people in need.
3. Representing Student Voices: I will actively gather feedback on mental health concerns and communicate these needs directly to the college, ensuring student voices help shape policies and initiatives that impact us all.
I am dedicated to building a connected, lasting, and active mental health community at Imperial. Vote for me, and let’s enhance well-being and support for all students.
