Huaihou Yang
Greetings all the wise and faithful,
My name is Huaihou and I’m running for the Interfaith Welfare Officer at the Liberation and Community Network.
I am a Biomedical Engineer, a decade-long mindfulness practitioner, and the Wellbeing Representative last year for my year group at the Department of Bioengineering. And this year, I want to move forward by not just engaging with our physical and mental wellbeing, but also to fulfil people’s spiritual needs.
Here’s what I intend to do once I get elected:
- Collaborate closely with the Imperial Multi-faith Centre to provide a wide range of programs covering people from all religious backgrounds.
- Encourage more participation in the Connect Lunch to promote interfaith conversation and understanding.
- Introduce the non-religious mindfulness sessions offered by the College to a wider audience and benefit them through the training of inner peace.
- Let more people be aware of the existing facilities such as the prayer room, the Prince’s Garden, the IC Chaplaincy, etc, and increase people’s use and visit.
I believe in this tumultuous time, senses and reasons combined can help us together solve many contentious problems, provided a platform is made to hold equal and friendly exchange of opinions. No matter who you are or what religion you practice, I hope we can together make the College a nice and healing place for all. Please vote for me to make that happen.
Thank you!
