Reem Al Saud
Postgraduate Taught Academic & Welfare Officer (Business)
We have all experienced the pressures of balancing academic work with personal wellbeing. I strongly believe every student deserves the support necessary to succeed both academically and personally. The pursuit of balance in mental and physical health is timeless; Mens sana in corpore sano—a sound mind in a sound body—has been strived after for thousands of years.
- Collaborating with Wellbeing and Student Services: I will work closely with the Wellbeing Team and Student Services to promote and expand wellness-focused activities. This includes organizing stress management workshops, wellness retreats, and virtual sessions, to be inclusive to online students, all aimed for completion within the academic year.
- Promoting Mental and Physical Health: I will organize two mental health talks with industry experts and three physical wellbeing initiatives in collaboration with campus clubs & societies. Integrating wellness into our routines will help students effectively manage the demands of their academic journey and personal lives.
- Enhancing Academic Support: I will collaborate with personal tutors to introduce structured wellbeing check-ins and advocate for two drop-in sessions to offer immediate support. My goal is to ensure consistent opportunities for discussing academic challenges and mental health by the end of the academic year.
- Supporting Returning Students: For students returning after a break, I will develop reintegration programs by the end of the first semester, providing tailored support to ensure they have the tools needed to excel and thrive in their studies while fostering a strong sense of community among all students in their studies.
