Kevin Jang
Hello ESE! My name is Kevin and I'm studying Earth and Planetary Science. A bit about me: I grew up in Malaysia (it has lovely weather!) in a boarding environment and I'm an active member in the quiz soc.
For the past year, I have had the opportunity to bring change at my school which I hold dear as a deputy head boy. During my time, I initiated several impactful projects that have left a lasting positive impact. These projects include the neurodiversity project, which aimed to raise awareness and support for neurodivergent students; “Sports for All,” promoting inclusivity in sports activities; and a rigorous interview process with SENCO (Special Education Needs Coordinator) and director of expressive arts candidates . My experiences have profoundly shaped my understanding of leadership, community and diversity which I hope to do the same here at Imperial with my fellow ESE-mates.
For this academic year I have a few things in mind:
1.Secret messages - All of us will have a chance to send and uplifting, nice message to a fellow student in the year which will be delivered anonymously
2.Adopt a plant! Scheme - every student will be given a plant to take care of for the rest of the year and give it back (assuming it's alive). With gloomy days lying ahead, it's an excellent method to improve your mental wellbeing in your very own rooms
3.Wellbeing tea - A tea between students with shared qualities, ranging from home countries, neurodiversity, accommodation, interests etc
That's it from me. Bye:)
