Electrical & Electronic Engineering (UG): Year One Academic Representative
As a transfer student and previous Academic Representative at King's College London, I can bring both experience from studying at another leading institution and experience in handling meetings/commitees with senior and c-suite academic staff. I have also represented King's for an investigation board from the IET and even met the current President, giving me a wealth of connections and experience in the role itself.
Goals:
- Work closely with students to collect feedback and push changes about asignments, labs, lectures and tutorials.
- Reduce the number of students who have to use overflow rooms (we all pay enough to deserve a physical interaction with staff).
- Modernise the lab materials and critically assess the flaws in current approaches.
- Enhance engagement between cohorts and staff (eg. Mums and Dads scheme, UGs&PGs, pHd's) for mutual benefit.
- Reassess student prefferences for examination periods, such as dates (before/after term breaks), january exams and mid-terms.
- Increase opportunities during the course and in the summer period both in academia and industry, such as more practical insight events and summer programmes for 1st and 2nd years'.
- Create non-society-centred networks between engineering departments (Aero, Materials, MechEng, BioEng, ChemEng...).
Motivation:
- I believe world-class students who chose a world-class university, should get world-class opportunities and networking.
- Passionate about engineering I want to help all of us know better what, and who we want to become.
