Michael Joshua
Hey everyone, I'm Michael and I'll be running for Year Three Academic Representative.
As your Year Rep I would:
1. Aim to have closer contact between lecturers and students via email, allowing for 2-way constructive feedback and advice to get the most out of every module.
2. Minimise ambiguity relating to courses and coursework through diligent follow-up on frequently asked questions.
3. I believe in a strong work-life balance and that an Academic Rep should do more than just the basics, so I will also work closely with other representatives and the ChemEngSoc to bring more exciting activities to Imperial ChemEng. This could potentially include sporting events between other courses/universities and careers talks.
As someone who has been somewhat critical of various modules in the past, I often felt there were times I wished I had more of a widespread platform to voice to my opinions, prompting my decision to run for Academic Rep.
I have experience in similar positions during sixth-form, where there was dissatisfaction with the quality of contact time. I directly address problems such as these by hosting meetings with the involved parties, aiming to come to a resolution and take progressive steps forward. You'll all know about the issues we had with *certain* lecturers last year and I can assure you I will do everything in my power to avoid a repeat!
Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto and I hope to represent you next year!
