Vishal Vijay Kumar
Hi everyone! For those who don't know me my name is Vishal (from D3b/E3b) and I'm running to be your academic representative this year. The short version of what I'd like to do as the academic representative is to challenge the faculty at every step, trying my best to constantly improve the academic experience for all of you. I don't believe in settling for the status quo, and think there is always room for improvement.
For those of you who are here to read the long version here are the things I'll try to advocate for as academic representative.
Increasing exam guidance from faculty
- Release of more exam-style questions for practice by faculty
- More OSCE guidance, teaching and tutor-assisted examination practice by faculty
Release of lesson materials before teaching
- I will petition faculty to release the correct slides before any teaching happens for easier learning and note taking.
Quicker response to feedback
- Often any feedback we give only leads to changes for the next year with no improvement to our own learning experience. My aim is to pressure faculty into enacting changes faster, especially dissatisfaction with how teaching sessions are held/delivered.
If I am elected as academic representative I will ensure that there is regular updates and full transparency given to all of you on all the things discussed with faculty (such as in SSLGs) and what their response and future plans are.
Thank you for reading my manifesto and I hope you'll vote for me.
