Soutir Chakraborty
Hi, my name is Soutir Chakraborty! After completing Phase 1a, I feel capable of taking on greater responsibility in this position which requires a sufficient level of understanding of how our curriculum is taught and assessed, especially the areas within the course that require improvement. Here, I will prove I am the student fit to be your academic representative.
One limitation I felt with last year was a lack of communication on what was occurring within SSLG's and their outcomes. Therefore, as an academic representative, I will regularly discuss with you:
- Content - Was Gastroenterology content-dense? Did you enjoy the pacing of Endocrinology?
- Teaching Style - Were PVB lectures unengaging? Were their tutorials more interesting?
- GOLs/Panopto - Were videos of poor quality? Did any GOLs take longer than they were scheduled for?
How I'd gather feedback:
- A Survey which is an effective tool to gather in-depth written feedback
- A document or spreadsheet with comments on the course which can be edited throughout the year and allow students to share initial thoughts about how lectures or tutorials are taught
- Engaging with you all on our year's WhatsApp group chat on how people felt about specific learning events
- Asking fellow students their thoughts in person
Importantly, outcomes of SSLGs would be communicated and documented for students interested in what will change.
As a hard-working individual who always enjoys talking with others, I believe I would make a good academic representative.
Thank you for your time
