Hi! I am Yash, and I hope to help all first year maths students as an academic representative. For all of us, the shift from school to university is a significant change. There is obviously a lifestyle shift for everyone, but also a change in our academic experiences. Whether you take to the new teaching styles and content easily or struggle to wrap your head around why 3*2 needs 25 lines of working, I believe we all deserve adequate support in our course to ensure that we all succeed in our own ways in maths.
You may be focused on scoring high marks, or perhaps you wish to discover new maths that you really enjoy. Whatever be your priorities, as your academic representative, I will bring everyone's interests and issues to staff members who can make changes to better our learning experiences. For me, this does not just mean passing on any comments you might have, but ensuring I properly understand your asks so that I can speak up about them to staff members in a productive way. Hopefully, this will enhance your university experience overall and result in increasingly positive responses to the happiness surveys every week!
There aren't many things I enjoy more than meeting new people, so if you see me around please do say hello! I'm pretty friendly (I think), unless I've had to walk in the rain and my socks are wet, or if the Central line is delayed again on my way to campus.
