As your prospective Head of Sponsorship, I envision leveraging my expertise to fortify VCPE's financial backing and industry connections. My strategic vision are as follows:
- Multi-year sponsorships: By optimising the existing sponsorship framework, I would refine pitch decks, enhance corporate outreach strategies, and establish exclusive internship opportunities that seamlessly align sponsor objectives with the society's overarching vision.
- Sponsorship portfolio diversification: Building on the success with AfricInvest and Lounge, I aim to diversify our portfolio to more UK-based institutions in VC and PE circles. This would provide more accessible opportunities to our members through internships and networking sessions.
- Broader outreach: Extend outreach to not only VC&PE firms, but also any firm that provides good value (e.g. financial institutions, broadband, etc) and other student-led organisations.
- Closer collaboration with associates: Promote greater cooperation and utilise our experienced manpower to achieve this year’s lofty ambitions
My previous role as External Liaison Officer of Imperial College Malaysian Society (ICUMS) reflects my ability to drive impactful sponsorships and expand networks. During my tenure, I spearheaded corporate and affiliate relations for one of Imperial’s largest CSPs and increased funding by 270% from 9 partners and sponsors.
My venture into the realm of investments as an Financial Institutions Group (FIG) intern at Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund has also endowed me with a seasoned perspective to VC&PE. During my internship, I had the privilege of diving deep into Series A to D challenger banks, digital lending and insurtech firms, with a particular focus on the dynamic APAC region.
