Technology development should be a larger part of an investment society at a science-focused university. The criteria for analysing a technology-based company is often very specific, and the mergers and profitability margins are also different to, say, property or service-based companies. To learn about how to approach these kinds of companies, I would organise talks and workshops from technology-focused investment platforms, as well as from technology divisions in financial institutions, not to mention imperial’s own QT capital which has a large interest in these. I would also organise specific seminars on AI based companies and the pitfalls that these can come with considering how ubiquitous their use is nowadays.
