Heidi Reynolds

Hello, my name is Heidi and I’m excited to be applying for this role!

Psychiatry is a growing specialty which I am highly interested in pursuing, yet we get minimal exposure to this until year 5. Personally, I know that I would have valued more experience and learning in this field, earlier in medical school, that extends beyond the introduction we already receive. I would love to help change this for younger years!

I am confident in communicating with people using multiple modalities and possess both leadership and team-working skills to ensure the efficient completion of any task to a high quality.

If elected I would love the opportunity to:

• Work on a lecture series for earlier years about different elements of psychiatry and psychiatric conditions
• Work with older years to provide essential consolidation teaching to help with examinations
• Recruit older years as tutors to provide tutorials and skills-based learning for students (e.g. history taking and conditions teaching)
• Provide teaching exposure to sub-specialities that we don’t get access to in medical school placements, particularly managing and treating addiction.
• Recruit psychiatry professionals from different subspecialties, for example, old age health, child and adolescent, general adult and forensic psychiatry.

Interest in psychiatry continues to grow, and with that does my confidence in being able provide teaching for those curious.
