Oncology: Secretary

In the current world of advancement, cancer is a hot topic and oncological research is being talked about the most. With a steadfast commitment to research and a deep passion to help those affected by cancer, I promise to serve this society with dedication, integrity and diligence.

Having previously been secretary of my school council for a year, I have previous experience of carrying out these duties which will place me a step ahead in terms of getting to grips with the work compared to other candidates.

My manifesto revolves around 3 main principles:

  1. Communication – this is key for any society to thrive, as secretary I will make efficient and transparent communication a priority to create a sense of inclusivity within the society. I will create weekly newsletters/emails with key events from the society or any important information/research opportunities ensuring students are always in the loop.
  2. Collaboration – As secretary I will make sure this society grows by organising networking events and collaborative projects with other universities and academic institutions creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and will help take this society to the next level
  3. Compassion – As secretary, I will ensure compassion is at the forefront of this society and make sure this society has an impacted not only on instilling interest in students but also having an impact on patient affected by cancer. I would do this by leading initiatives to raise awareness about support services and the psychological impact of cancer.
