Matthew Romero

Hi Everyone! I’m Matthew (2nd year) and I will provide a unique, multicultural perspective to the President role. Growing up in 4 countries and competing internationally in 4 sports has given me the collaboration skills and drive necessary to enact productive change in our Biochemistry society.

I want to help you make the most well-informed choices about your career. With such a broad degree and limited departmental information, it’s easy to be unsure of what life path to take.

What I’ll do as President:

• Increase engagement at academic talks through free food, Kahoot quizzes, and prizes.
• Partner with other academic societies (e.g. SynBio, BioEng) for socials and career talks.
• Partner with non-academic societies (e.g. LawSoc, Finance) for taster events, industry insights, and CV workshops.
• Add fun, interactive activities to our social media and newsletter (such as weekly quizzes and a biochemistry crossword/wordle).
• Streamline information across all channels.
