Kuala Kaneto

Hi, everyone:) I'm Kuala Kaneto, a 1st year studying Biochemistry.

Joining Japanese society at the beginning of this academic year provided me with a sense of belonging and acceptance in a new environment where I initially felt nervous. Having this supportive network helped me engage more actively in all aspects of university life. As I very much appreciate the presence of this society, I would love to be part of Japanese society as secretary and provide a platform where everyone can feel included.

Having lived abroad for 7 years, I’ve come to appreciate the value of our culture deeply, and it is something I am very proud of. Hence, I consider organising inclusive events that welcome individuals from all backgrounds with an interest in Japanese culture to be an essential part of cultural society.

I believe I would be an ideal candidate for secretary, as I was a sports department representative in high school. Through this role, I learnt how to communicate with others, manage my time, and organise the venue/events. I truly enjoyed my participation within a big society, and the highlight of being a sports captain was organising 50 different sports tournaments for our annual sports day. I find fulfilment in coordinating roles for others to achieve our collective goals.

If I get selected for secretary, I am committed to enhancing our society to provide “Home away from home” for everyone who values our culture.
