Christopher O'Sullivan
Hello hello it is me Chris! Right now your secretary, purveyor of rambly weekly mails, occasionally there on a hike. The bog-riddled expanse of Dartmoor, remember that? Or maybe the more recent stumble through some Charlbury fields and forests? Anyway yes, I was there. Maybe you saw me. And if you didn't, your loss I suppose. Here I am now. Time for Presidential run!
As tradition, cue theme song: Mamma mia, here we go again. My my, how could I forgive you?
But why? Why assign your vote in my favour?
1. Time for more hiking!
I will maintain our hiking plan: at least once per week, twice where demand is high. And I'll spend more time getting input on desired hiking destinations from our members (=you!), perhaps with some kind of voting system, or via tea breaks. We hike where members want!
(also, maybe add more collaborations with other university groups here and there)
2. Accessibility relating to hike prices
The price of our hikes is dictated solely by British rail fares. Surprisingly to nobody, they are high. Already we reduce them by a standard subsidy, but where price still hinders your ability to hike with us – I want a more formalised way to make sure we are as open as possible.
And yes, I will continue to pester for a more flexible timeline. I want to run hikes at a week's notice. Believe me, I'll try, but some outcomes? Tea leaves could predict better than any human.
