Hi everyone! I am currently in second year and acted as Alumni Officer on the AeroSoc committee in the past academic year. I hope I can use my experience and be the next AeroSoc President. My aims with this campaign are as follows:
- Building a Stronger Community: There is a lot of potential for our community to become closer. I hope to host events that allow for different years to get to know each other, such as inter-year sports events, to foster this community. There will also be a larger focus on promoting alumni mentorships with new alumni.
- Diversifying Social Opportunities: Free pizza after career talks is great, but we know many people are only coming for the pizza after the talk. Instead, I believe we should allocate budge to host separate social events for people to mingle freely without the career talk being a prerequisite.
- Promoting Inclusion: As a female student, I have definitely noticed gender imbalances in the course. I promise to co-operate with the women’s officer to promote a more inclusive environment that can allow women or other gender minorities to feel welcome.
- Advocating for Student Success: Ultimately, my goal as President is to advocate for the success of us students. With my experience in helping out in career talks and networking with alumni, I believe that I can lead AeroSoc members to academic and professional success.
