Luane Branthonne

Mountaineering: Vice President

I am ready to take on the responsibility of having the second biggest forearms in the club. Currently social sec, you will probably have seen me making my cake rounds at Westway. I have some experience dealing with the union as part of other CSPs, and would love to contribute more to the club and make it as enjoyable an experience for others as it has been for me.

  • I regularly teach new climbers indoor skills and think we should have a mid-year teaching session to complement the hectic fresher’s session. I’ll create a teaching sign-up sheet if anyone wants to learn throughout the year.
  • Weekend trip frequency has been great this year and I will make sure we keep this up. I believe they have not been advertised enough and that it would be good to have a provisional trip calendar sent out each term so that members can plan to make time for trips.
  • I think the club needs some young leadership for a change (sorry Ben).

Easter tour: the best ICMC tour, no question. Off-peak holiday season and warming up weather. I’ve looked at Spain and Kalymnos as options to get some sport climbing in, both of which are great options to not only climb but also soak up the sun on beaches and enjoy local food. I would like to create tour t-shirts (being a big fan of shit T-shirts myself) or some kind of memento (for lack of ICMC merch since I joined uni).
