ICSMSU: Clubs & Societies Vice Chair - Volunteering and Academics

Hi everyone,

My name is Eric Albinyana, I'm a 5th-year medic and I am running to be your ICSMSU Clubs & Societies VCVA.

Having held 8 committee roles in V&A societies over the last 4 years (see list below) and having been president of ICSM Paediatrics and TeddyBear Hospital, I believe I have the necessary experience and familiarity with V&A societies to be the right person for the job.

Through these roles, I have taken part in running some of the largest volunteering activities of ICSM (PlayTeam and TeddyBear Hospital School visits), teaching series (Paediatrics and Medical Education lecture series), conferences (Paeds and Obs and Gynae Conferences), and mock exams (Medical Education). These experiences have given me the knowledge to help other societies increase their student uptake, maximize their grant allocation, promote volunteering, and tackle the barriers encountered by societies wishing to run new events.

I hope to:

- Bring back V&A events/awards and explore more SU events for our societies where people with similar interests can meet and collaborate.

- Work closely with V&A societies to offer support with events and activities and encourage the creation of new events and projects, especially from smaller/newer societies.

- Continue the centralized V&A calendar to help with event scheduling and work closely with societies to implement their recommendations to best support them.
