Hi! I'm Matthew and I'm running to be your ICSMSU Deputy President!
Over the past few years, I've had experience working with every stream in the SU as well as events and projects that affect almost every member of ICSM. My roles have seen me represent students at SSLGs, organise and help run major events from FPR to mocks, collaborate and support clubs and societies and manage finances and budgets of various sizes and complexities. Outside of ICSM, I have managed a team of 18 students to organise flagship events for widening participation students for the past two years.
My background gives me insight into the operation of each stream and I want to target the strengths and weaknesses of each role, especially in more junior officers who would benefit most from this.
As DP, I would work to support these roles and be a pastoral leader for the SU so I want to focus on some key areas:
Synergistic Collaborations
Getting streams such as Welfare and Clubs+Socs, Ents and BMB etc working together earlier and more collaboratively so that they can use each others’ expertise and balance to tackle issues more effectively.
Student Experiences
Supporting SU to improve key facets of the ICSM experience including Reynolds refurbishment and the Bar, AI policy, the Alumni network and EDI representation
Building Relationships
Helping SU to foster relationships with ICU, faculty, external venues, clubs and societies and students themselves
