ICSMSU: President

Hello there. I am Harry Oke-Osanyintolu, and I am currently in my Bsc year in Humanities, Philosophy and Law and I am running for the position of President this year!

I am Irish and Nigerian and moved to London to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. One thing I have always valued is the celebration of diversity. I went to an international school in Ireland, and unsurprisingly, the student population at Imperial completely trumps everything I have experienced. Our university is widely recognised as exceptional, I have found this to not be the same sentiment shared among the student body. I have decided to run for the Presidency because I hope to help ICSM be a place we are proud to study in.

  1. Greater engagement:
    1. Changing the way feedback is given from the student population. Instead of relying on social media platforms or emails, collecting feedback during sessions that routinely have high attendance e.g., assessment seminars.
  2. Greater unity: Help facilitate better interactions between the BMB and MBBS courses, within and across year groups-
    1. Changing the fresher buddy schemes by having more than 2 medic/biomed parents and having both biomed and medics within the same family.
    2. Placement buddies- a framework where older medics help younger medics orientate into the hospital environment and can be an extra port of call.
  3. Greater Spirit
    1. Introducing skills that are becoming more desirable in the professional world to our course. These include skills like coding a ICSM coding.
